Respect the culture, appreciate the beauty, celebrate the richness, without appropriating it.
My illustration on the poster is a powerful representation of the exhaustion and pain that Black people have endured due to appropriation and lack of recognition. Each element of my illustration depicts different levels of pain, and when viewed as a whole, it brings the message of the poster together. The overall message is that Black people have contributed so much to society, and it is time to recognize and appreciate their contributions beyond cultural stereotypes and biases.
My goal was to encourage people to acknowledge and embrace the beauty of cultural diversity, specifically acknowledging the voices of the Black community. Through this project, I hope to inspire individuals to take a moment to pause and reflect on the beauty of the world around them, to recognize and appreciate the diversity that makes our society so rich and vibrant.
The name of the final piece is "Love Beyond Culture," and it perfectly captures the message that I wanted to convey. The poster aims to highlight the significant contributions that Black culture has made to art, music, literature, and fashion, and how these contributions have influenced mainstream culture around the world. It is a call to action to appreciate and acknowledge the invaluable contributions that Black people have made to society. "Love Beyond Culture" is a visual representation of the importance of recognizing and celebrating diverse cultures and is a call to action to create a more inclusive and equitable society.
